8 Days Exploring Wildlife in Rwanda Tour

Our 8 Days Exploring Wildlife in Rwanda Tour combines wildlife game drives in Akagera National Park and gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park.  You will take on more tourist activities in Volcanoes National Park including the Dian Fossey hike where Dian spent some twenty years studying the Mountain Gorillas.

On arrival you will be picked from the airport by a Wild Adventure Safaris guide who will brief you on the 8 Days Exploring Wildlife in Rwanda Tour and then transfer you to a hotel already booked for you in Kigali. Accommodation: Mille Collines Hotel on Bed and Breakfast.

After an early morning Breakfast at 8:00am leave for Akagera National Park which is roughly 3 hours’ drive away. You will reach the park and check-in at your Akagera Game Lodge, later lunch followed by an afternoon game drive, your driver Guide will help you for Game drive at 2:00pm and boat ride at 3:00pm as it is the varied terrain shelters wildlife species as well as species restricted to the papyrus swamps such as the Sitatunga and the sought-after Shoebill Stork. Notable plains game includes elephant, buffalo, topi, zebra, waterbuck, roan antelope and eland. Other antelope are duiker, oribi, bohor reedbuck, klipspringer, bushbuck and impala. Arriving and as you check in take a mini game safari for wildlife viewing and photograph.  Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge on Full board.

Have breakfast and then go for a full day game drive where you may spot various wild animals. Especially for those early raisers such as big five animals, Lion, Buffalos, Rhino, Elephant and Leopards, Massai Giraffe, Zebra, Topy and many more in the late evening, you will drive back to for dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.

After breakfast, you will depart for Volcanoes National Park. You will have lunch enroute meals in Kigali and then proceed to the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay. *Accommodation at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge on Full board.

After breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for a briefing, and then you will begin the trekking. The trek can be quite tough and it takes a lot of time approximately 2-5 hours. Dinner and overnight at: – Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. *Accommodation at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 6: Dian Fossey Trek

You will have breakfast and then go to visit the grave of Dian Fossey. This is at the former Karisoke Research Center where Dian spent some twenty years studying the Mountain Gorillas, and the trek to the site is quite spectacular, passing through bamboo forest and afro-montane habitats. You may spot other wildlife during the visit. Dinner and overnight at: – Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Then spend a night at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 7: Golden Monkey Trekking and transfer to Lake Kivu

After breakfast, you will go for Golden Monkey trekking. This takes a few hours; you will return to the lodge relax later transfer to Lake Kivu and spend a night at Paradise Malahide on Full board.
